Training Update
Here is a quick update on the diver training that we are doing at the moment.
Ocean Diver
The latest batch of Ocean Divers have all but finished their pool and theory training. Nadia has two lessons left; the rest will be taking their first Open Water dives in Portland this weekend.
Sports Diver
I’m hoping to concentrate over the next few weeks on people who are halfway through Sports Diver. Anyone who wants to finish off their SD qualification please let myself or Matthew Gentile know what lessons you have done and what you have left so we can organise the correct lessons for you. Once the current batch of Sports Divers have finished their training we can start a new Sports Diver course for our newly-qualified Ocean Divers. I hope to start this shortly after Easter.
Nitrox course
Everyone that takes an Ocean Diver or Sports Diver course through the club will now receive a Nitrox qualification. People who are not yet Nitrox qualified can attend a club-run course which will give a BSAC qualification up to 40% Nitrox. Joe Hesketh plans to run a Nitrox course sometime in the next couple of months and will be publicising it shortly.
Dive leader
We hope to run a ‘Dive Leader Theory Day’ on Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th May. The intention will be to cover most of the Dive Leader syllabus in one (potentially quite tiring) sitting. This will be held somewhere in North London and we plan to have a few much-needed drinks afterwards. This day will be aimed primarily at those who are halfway through their Dive Leader who want some refresher training and need to finish off any missing lessons. Please contact me if you want to be involved.
Anyone who wants pool and / or theory training over the coming months, who I have not covered above, please get in contact. For Open Water training please contact the Dive Manager (Dive Marshall) for any of our trips, and they will be able to let you know what instructing can be organised.
Thanks,
Morgan
